Scar Care provides prevention and treatment of scarring and oedema following traumatic injuries and surgery. We understand that scarring and swelling can have a major impact on a person’s life.

Our scar and oedema programmes take a multidisciplinary approach that considers your total wellbeing; helping you to comfortably return to work or school, sports, leisure activities, and everyday living.

Meet the Team

  • Angela Thynne

    DIRECTOR, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

    Angela has over 30 years of experience in the management of scarring and oedema following traumatic injuries, burns and surgery.

    She has run her private practice specialising in scarring and oedema for over 20 years and has extensive experience in treating both adults and children with scarring and oedema.

  • Rebecca Newsome

    OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

    Rebecca is experienced in the prevention and treatment of scarring and oedema following traumatic injuries and surgery.

    She holds a Certificate III in Community Services (Mental Health), a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) from the Queensland University of Technology and a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Sydney.

  • Sarah O'Reilly

    OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

    Sarah is experienced in assessing, treating, and managing scars and oedema following traumatic injury and burns.

    Her clinical experience includes working with clients who require intensive care, burns, plastics, and vascular specialist involvement.

  • Sonya Phinn

    Sonya is an Occupational Therapist with over 30 years experience working in a variety of acute and rehabilitation settings.

    She graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and has worked within both the public and private sectors within Qld, Melbourne and overseas.

What does Scar Care treat?

  • Burn, scars, and oedema

  • Scarring and oedema from traumatic injuries, including lacerations, friction wounds, dog and animal bites, contaminated wounds, self-harm
